ABOUT I am an art historian and visual studies scholar teaching and working in New Mexico. My research explores the material and cultural life of objects, sites, and structures often on the borders of art history, such as outsider art and craft practices, the art history of synthetics, toxicity in art, landscape and land use, and representations of ruin. I also teach studio classes in functional ceramics. In addition to research and teaching, I am an independent curator specializing in the development and execution of online exhibitions, virtually accessible archives and collections, and digital preservation techniques. I hold a Ph.D. in Visual Studies from the University of California, Irvine and a M.A. in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from The Ohio State University. My dissertation project at UCI examines the material and cultural history of industrial collage, latex, and polymer plastics in the sculptural works of German-American artist Eva Hesse from 1964-1969. |
